Small business IT planning and advisory

IT planning for small firms that have outgrown guesswork

Brindleford IT Planning helps owners sort out tools, supplier choices, access, risk, and setup decisions before another half-finished system lands on the team.

We like boring clarity: named owners, written decisions, fewer duplicate tools, and a plan that survives Monday morning.

First question: A growing firm has email, finance, project work, file storage, bookings, and customer notes in six places. Which decision fixes the next month, not just today?

Services

Technology choices, turned into work your team can finish

We help owners make clear IT decisions before the next system, supplier, or renewal deadline creates avoidable mess.

01

IT Strategy Consulting

We help owners decide what technology should support the business this quarter, what can wait, and what is quietly creating risk.

02

Software Setup Guidance

New software fails when roles, data, permissions, and reporting are an afterthought. We map those pieces before the team starts using it.

03

Small Business IT Planning

A practical plan covers renewals, access, supplier handovers, security basics, training gaps, and the awkward systems nobody officially owns.

04

Supplier Decision Notes

We prepare plain-English comparison notes and questions for vendors. Not a grand report. Something you can actually use in a meeting.

“Brindleford gave us permission to stop buying tools and fix the decisions around them.”

Amelia Hart, Managing Director, Cotsmere Design Works

Planning Route

From scattered tools to a 30-day route

We start with the current mess: accounts, spreadsheets, shared folders, renewal dates, supplier promises, and the workarounds staff do not mention until asked twice. Then we turn it into a short planning route.

  • Step 1: list the tools, owners, costs, and gaps.
  • Step 2: decide which setup problem matters first.
  • Step 3: write the software setup guidance your staff need.
  • Step 4: review in 30 days and adjust without drama.

Client Notes

What owners say afterwards

“Their IT strategy consulting was refreshingly practical. We left with six decisions, not sixty slides.”

Ronan Ellis, Founder, Whitbarrow Advisory

“The software setup guidance caught problems before launch. Data ownership, permissions, reporting. Boring stuff, but it saved us.”

Priya Naylor, Operations Lead, Fenwick Learning Studio

“Small business IT planning used to mean asking whoever shouted loudest. Now we have a roadmap and a calmer renewal calendar.”

Bethan Price, Practice Manager, Northgate Therapies

FAQ

Useful questions before booking

Do you provide day-to-day IT support?

No. Brindleford focuses on planning and setup decisions. We can work alongside your support provider, but we are not a ticket desk.

What does software setup guidance include?

Roles, permissions, data shape, reporting needs, supplier questions, staff handover, and the points where a setup usually goes sideways.

Can you help if we already chose the software?

Yes. A lot of our work starts after a product has been chosen but before the team has a workable rollout plan.

Is this suitable for very small businesses?

Yes. Small business IT planning is often most useful before a company can justify a full-time IT lead.

What happens after the enquiry?

We send a short scoping note and suggest a planning session time. No hard sell. No dramatic audit language.
